April 15 is less than a month away. Don’t put off filing your taxes. If you’re having trouble or you need a little assistance, find some free tax help. There are likely several options in your area for getting some complimentary tax services. Here are some to consider:

IRS Open Houses: The IRS will hold several Saturday open houses in order to help taxpayers who are having a tough time due to the economy. According to the IRS, local offices will be open on March 27 as well as three additional upcoming Saturdays. Dates, times and locations will be announced soon. These are opportunities to get help claiming tax breaks such as the Homebuyer tax credit, American Opportunity credit, Making Work Pay credit, and Expanded Earned Income Tax Credit.

Taxpayer Assistance Center: Get free telephone assistance or visit your local Taxpayer Assistance Center for free tax help. To find out where your nearest office is visit IRS.gov and click on your state.

AARP: The AARP is offering free tax assistance through Tax-Aide, a volunteer run program that started in 1968. The free tax prep service is available to taxpayers with low to moderate income and also those who are over the age of 60. Tax-Aide has nearly 35,000 volunteers who are trained through the IRS. The help millions of taxpayers file their returns at about 6,500 locations such as libraries, senior centers and community centers. You can also ask questions for free online.
