As much as people are worried about keeping their freedom, it seems contradictory to let a company control our financial and personal lives. Having your money controlled by anyone other than yourself should be a very scary thought but still each day people make the decision to do just this!
It is definitely in our heritage to seek out freedom at nearly any cost, so how could it also be in our heritage to accrue and keep credit card debt? It may well be, with it being such a widely accepted practice, we do not even notice how credit card debt takes away our freedom.
Consider the following. If you want a pair of shoes, what do you do? Typically speaking, you’d have two real options (in general). First, you could go to a shoemaker, or more likely a shoe store that a shoemaker has delivered his or her product to.
Alternately, however, you could begin taking measurements of your feet, seek out someone willing to provide untreated leather to you at a discount, learn to work and form that leather to the shape of your feet, buy a furnace for heating and shaping rubber, rent a facility for dealing with the toxic fumes that will be generated, create a custom sole, nail or use adhesive to affix your sole to your customized leather shoe-body, punch eyelets in the leather, weave your own laces, and then wham, you have your own pair of shoes, and you didn’t have to resort to anyone else’s expertise!
We’re guessing that you prefer option one. Who wouldn’t?! It would be insane to spend all that time and energy making a shoe for yourself when you could just leave it up to someone with the requisite expertise. If you’re willing to use this kind of rational approach to your shoes, however, why not your money? Why insist on handling and investing your money yourself, when a broker is significantly more qualified to make those hard decisions for you… and still allow you to reap the profits?
Looking at how many individuals are ruined by poor financial decisions year after year, you have to ask yourself a question. Are all of these people just stupid? Of course not. They’re hard-working decent people just like you, but they made honest mistakes with their finances and now they’re paying the price for it. While there may be some sense of pride in saying that you’ve properly invested your money based on decisions that you made yourself, what’s ultimately more important? Your pride or your ability to support yourself and protect your family from the downfall of western finance that looms precariously on the horizon? Brokers are trained to make the right decisions, and will know how to weather the seas of any market, no matter how stormy they get. If you’re looking to rebuild your credit, this is something you should take very seriously.
With all the information on how detrimental credit card debt is to individuals and families, it should be the first thing we think of when deciding to make a purchase we can’t really afford. It is not necessary to American way of life to live beyond our means no matter what the media might have you believe.
